What Is
Hydro Jetting?
Hydro jetting is a professional method for cleaning drain and sewer lines using a controlled stream of high-pressure water. Instead of simply creating an opening through a blockage, the water helps break apart buildup and flush loosened material through the plumbing system.
Professional hydro jetting equipment uses specialized hoses and nozzles designed to direct water through the line. This allows our plumbers to address grease, sludge, mineral deposits, debris, and other material that can accumulate along the inside of a pipe.
Not every clogged drain needs hydro jetting. Depending on the condition of your plumbing and the cause of the blockage, a different drain cleaning service may be more appropriate. Our team can evaluate the problem and recommend the right approach for your system.
Why Choose Hydro Jetting Over Traditional Snaking?
Traditional drain snaking and hydro jetting solve different types of problems. A drain snake can break through many common clogs and restore flow, making it an effective option for routine drain blockages.
Hydro jetting goes further when heavy buildup remains along the inside of the line. High-pressure water can clean a larger portion of the pipe’s interior while flushing loosened debris away.
This can make hydro jetting particularly useful for recurring blockages, grease-heavy lines, and drain or sewer lines with substantial buildup. The right method depends on what is causing the problem and the condition of the pipe.
- Provides more thorough pipe-wall cleaning
- Helps remove accumulated grease and sludge
- Useful for certain recurring drain and sewer problems
When Should You Consider Hydro Jetting?
A clog that keeps coming back may indicate that material is still accumulating inside the line. If your drains repeatedly slow down, multiple fixtures are affected, or previous drain cleaning has provided only temporary relief, it may be time for a more thorough evaluation.
Hydro jetting may be recommended when grease, sludge, mineral deposits, debris, or certain root intrusions have built up inside a drain or sewer line. It can also be useful for properties where recurring buildup creates ongoing drainage problems.
Because every plumbing system is different, we evaluate the line before recommending hydro jetting. If another solution makes more sense, we’ll explain why and recommend the appropriate service rather than pushing work you don’t need.

More Reasons to Choose Hydro Jetting Service
Hydro jetting offers several advantages when your plumbing needs more than conventional clog removal.
Cleans With High-Pressure Water
Hydro jetting relies on pressurized water rather than chemical drain cleaners to break apart and flush away buildup. This makes it an effective option when the line needs a more thorough mechanical cleaning.
Full Pipe Wall Cleaning, Not Just a Quick Fix
A drain snake is effective for many blockages, but hydro jetting can address buildup across more of the pipe's interior. The pressurized water helps loosen accumulated grease, sludge, mineral deposits, and other debris from the pipe walls and flush it through the system.
Helps Address Recurring Buildup
When material remains along the pipe walls, clogs can continue to develop in the same line. Thoroughly removing that buildup may help reduce recurring drainage problems and the need for repeated clog removal.
Used Only When Appropriate for the Pipe
Hydro jetting is powerful, which is why the condition of the plumbing matters. We evaluate the line and choose the appropriate equipment and pressure for the situation. If the pipe's condition makes another method a better choice, we'll recommend that instead.

Great company and great prices. The owner, Kevin, is also a stand-up guy and really looks out for his customers (especially ones that know nothing about plumbing like me). These guys will be my new plumbing company going forward!Posted on Google![]()

Had P&L out for a leak from the washing machine into the drainage pipe in the wall. Kevin took care of it efficiently and told me everything he did. We had him out for a new water heater last year and previous leaks. I always ask for him by name. Thanks guys!Posted on Google![]()

This was the first time I've called P&L Plumbing. I decided to try them after reading reviews on the company. Kevin came over and assessed my situation. I didn't end up needing a plumber, but if I do in the future, I'll be calling P&L and asking for Kevin. He seemed very knowledgeable and wasn't at all high pressure, trying to sell me something I didn't need. Thank you Kevin and P&L!Posted on Google![]()

Given my ignorance, Kevin could have performed and charged me for a big ticket job, but he notice the P-drain was dry and had me pour a couple cups of water into it to stop the bad smell. He was a real pro!Posted on Google![]()

Hydro Jetting FAQS
Can hydro jetting damage my plumbing?
Hydro jetting can be safe when the pipe is in suitable condition, but older, cracked, corroded, or weakened pipes may require extra caution. We evaluate the line and recommend hydro jetting only when it makes sense for the condition of your plumbing.
How do I know if I need hydro jetting?
Hydro jetting may be recommended when a drain or sewer line has recurring clogs, heavy grease or sludge buildup, certain root intrusion, or material coating the inside of the pipe. We do not recommend it automatically for every clog. Our team will evaluate the problem and explain which cleaning method makes the most sense.
Do you inspect the sewer line before hydro jetting?
When the condition of the sewer line is a concern, a camera inspection can help us look for visible damage, root intrusion, deterioration, or other problems before deciding how the line should be cleaned. This is especially useful with older pipes or recurring sewer issues.
What kinds of buildup can hydro jetting remove?
Hydro jetting can remove many types of buildup, including grease, sludge, soap residue, food waste, organic debris, and certain mineral deposits. It may also help clear some tree root intrusion when the pipe is in suitable condition.
Can hydro jetting remove tree roots?
Hydro jetting can remove certain tree roots that have grown inside a sewer line, but the severity of the intrusion and the condition of the pipe matter. If roots entered through a crack or separated joint, clearing them will not repair the opening that allowed them inside.
Can hydro jetting remove hard water scale?
Hydro jetting may help remove mineral scale and other deposits from inside a pipe, depending on how severe the buildup has become and the condition of the line. Heavy or long-standing scale may require a different cleaning approach.
Is hydro jetting safe for older pipes?
It can be, but age alone does not determine whether hydro jetting is appropriate. The condition of the pipe matters more. If we have concerns about corrosion, cracks, weak joints, or deterioration, we can evaluate the line before recommending hydro jetting.
How is hydro jetting different from regular drain cleaning?
Traditional drain cleaning can be effective for many common clogs. Hydro jetting is generally used when more extensive buildup needs to be removed from the inside of the pipe. We recommend the method that fits the blockage and the condition of the plumbing rather than using hydro jetting for every drain problem.
Will hydro jetting make a mess inside my house?
We take steps to protect your home throughout the service and clean up our work area when the job is finished. Our technicians are expected to work cleanly and respectfully, including using protective measures such as boot covers and completing a full cleanup after service.
How often should sewer lines be hydro jetted?
There is no single schedule that makes sense for every home. How often hydro jetting may be needed depends on the history of the sewer line, the type of buildup, recurring clogs, root intrusion, and how quickly restrictions return. We recommend service based on what your plumbing actually needs.
